Description

The Technical Writer will have the major responsibility for assisting the Director for Grants and Sponsored Programs with drafting and assembling proposal to be submitted to federal, state, local and foundation sources. In most cases, the writer will work in conjunction with other University units. Where appropriate, the writer, under the supervision of the Director for Grants and Sponsored Programs, will be the principal author of proposals.


  • Reports to the Director for Grants and Sponsored Programs
  • Grant writing
  • Assists the Director for Grants and Sponsored Programs with gathering/assembling data from University units and other sources to prepare proposals.
  • Assists the Director for Grants and Sponsored Programs with preparation/assembly for proposals for submission to funding agencies and assists the Director for Grants and Sponsored Programs with generating proposals that are interdisciplinary or cross departmental/college lines.
  • Assists the Director of Grants and Sponsored Programs with gathering research data associated with proposal project subject matter for the inclusion in proposal packages in situations where other University personnel may not be available.
  • Assists the Director of Grants and Sponsored Programs with technical and other aspects of office operations and provides technical assistance to the Director for Grants and Sponsored Programs in the following activities:
      a.) Developing workshops and seminars
      b.)Compiling and maintaining databases associated with the Director for Grants and Sponsored Programs office activities.
  • Researching, preparing, and submitting quality major research proposals to various funding agencies
  • Assisting the Director with office related activities as needed
  • Assisting with research workshops, personnel incentives and rewards functions
  • Qualifications

    Minimal Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution (Master's degree preferred). At least two (2) years successful experience in grant proposal technical writing, preferably in higher education or the non-profit sector. Demonstrated excellence in organizational, written, oral, and analytical skills. (Grant Writing Skills Required)
